Privacy Policy
AutoDub is built privacy-first. Translation happens on the fly — we don't store the videos you watch or your watch history.

1. What this covers
This policy explains what data AutoDub ("we", "us") collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the AutoDub browser extension, the AutoDub website, and the account dashboard.
2. What we don't collect
- Your videos. We do not store the video content you watch. Audio and captions are processed transiently to produce the dub and are not retained afterward.
- Your watch history. We do not build a profile of what you watch. The extension does not send us a log of the videos you open.
- Original audio. The original soundtrack is never stored on our servers.
3. What we do collect
- Account data (only if you create an account): your email address, name, and authentication credentials, used to sign you in and manage your subscription.
- Subscription & billing data needed to operate paid plans. Card details are handled by our payment processor (Stripe); we never see or store full card numbers.
- Usage metering for premium features — the number of minutes processed by premium voice/transcription providers, so we can enforce plan quotas. This is a count, not a record of what you watched.
- Preferences such as your default target language and voice settings, so they persist across sessions.
- Diagnostics — anonymized error reports and minimal operational logs that help us keep the service reliable. These are sampled and contain no video content.
4. How dubbing works (the data flow)
When you dub a video, captions (or, on premium plans, transcribed audio) are sent to translation and text-to-speech services to generate the spoken dub in real time. This processing is ephemeral: the inputs are used to produce the output and are not persisted. The free tier uses your browser's built-in speech engine, so that audio is generated entirely on your device.
5. Third-party processors
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate the service: a payment processor (Stripe) for billing, transactional email for account verification, neural voice and transcription providers (such as Azure and ElevenLabs) for premium dubbing, and an error-monitoring provider for diagnostics. Each receives only the minimum data needed for its function.
6. Your choices
You can use the free tier without an account. If you have an account, you can update your preferences, export or delete your account data, and cancel your subscription at any time from the dashboard. Deleting your account removes your profile, preferences, and usage records.
7. Data retention & security
We keep account and billing records only as long as your account is active or as required to comply with legal and tax obligations. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access is restricted to what's necessary to run the service.
8. Children
AutoDub is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
9. Changes & contact
We may update this policy as the product evolves; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above. Questions? Reach us through the contact link in the footer.
